Overview

A synthetic small molecule inhibitor known primarily by the code name SU4984. It is a member of the indolinone class and acts as a protein kinase inhibitor. Structural studies have shown that it binds to the tyrosine kinase domain of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1), inhibiting its activity by occupying the ATP-binding site and forming key hydrogen bonds in the hinge region of the kinase domain. This compound has been investigated for its potential anti-cancer properties due to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis-related kinases but has not advanced beyond early experimental stages[7][6]. There are no approved indications or marketed formulations.
